Information About Charlie and Slinky

Our special feeding schedule:

I suppose I should explain our feeding schedule. We have first breakfast right away in the morning (as early as we can get Mom out of bed which can be as early as 5:30 AM). Around noon, Mom feeds us second breakfast (just like a hobbit). First supper is at 4:30 PM unless we can guilt Mom into feeding us early by staring at her with our big sad eyes. This works really well on the weekend or if she’s been working hard and ignoring us. Second supper is close to our bedtime so we are usually pretty sleepy by then and are too tired to try the guilt thing. We’re trying to figure out a way to get fed even more often—Mom and Dad will need more training before that happens.

Charlie Chat

I heard Dad say we were “googleable.” I’m not sure what that means but it sure sounds funny (and it’s a little hard to say). I don’t spend much time on the computer since it’s winter out now.

With it being cold and cloudy outside, I usually spend all morning in bed (I have trained Dad to leave his electric blanket on for me). I do get up every hour or so to con Dad or Mom into giving me a treat and make sure I’m not missing anything exciting. If the sun comes out in the afternoon, I move to the living room and lie in the window and let the sun cook me ‘til I’m toasty! That’s the best! Now, it may sound like all I do is sleep, but that’s just not true. I spent the rest of my time barking at cats (there are entirely too many in our neighborhood), kids and the garbage trucks (neither Slinky nor I like the garbage men-they just can’t be trusted). I’m going to let Slinky tell you about our “hood.”

Slinky’s Stylings

Charlie gave me orders to fill you in on our “hood.” I have to be nice to him today because I snarled at him when he woke me up at 3:30 AM! I can’t help it that I get a little grumpy when you wake me up in the middle of the night.

Some of you may know Reba and Roger who live next door. They are A LOT bigger than us but we can beat them at a “bark off” at the fence any day of the week. Of course, Roger is a lot like Charlie and he spends most of the day in bed. I make sure I bark at them every time they go for a walk with their Mom and Dad (just to remind them who’s boss around here). There’s a brown doxie named Abby who lives a few blocks from us. She’s a little shy and so I don’t bark at her much (she’s kind of cute, but a little young for me). Old Yeller (I don’t know the dog’s real name but that’s what Mom calls him) always sticks his head over the fence to watch us. I’ve only heard him talk trash to us once-and Charlie talked trash right back! It’s time for second supper so I’ll be back later.
